ABSTRACT

The authors have previously reported on the use of the arterialized venous flap to cover skin defects of the big toe resulting from wrap-around-flap transfers. Nineteen patients who had undergone this procedure were reviewed, to determine the incidence of donor-site complications. Problems identified included delayed wound healing, skin erosion, painful callosity, paresthesia, cold intolerance, and cosmetic appearance. However, the functional deficit was not great, and most patients were not troubled by their symptoms. The cosmetic appearance of the donor foot was acceptable in most of the patients.
