Summary

The temporal bone assists in many functions such as hearing, spatial orientation, erect stance, balance and dynamic equilibrium. Almost every reaction in the body reaches the temporal bone via the fascia. Numerous muscles pull on the temporal bone and it is in contact with most of the cranial nerves. The temporal bone is important for chewing and speaking. Auditory and speech centers are located in the temporal lobe and certain types of optical information are analyzed here. Speech and body movements share the same path on their way to the inner experience, so movements and words used during therapy should be carefully chosen. Each functional area should be taken into consideration during treatment.
