Significance

Chiral diene ligands have emerged as valuable ligands in asymmetric catalysis. This publication explains the simple two-step synthesis of diphenyl-, dibenzyl- and dimethyl-substituted dienes and their ability to effect conjugate addition of phenylboronic acid to cyclic enones as well as addition to N-sulfonylimines with high yield and ee values.
