Significance

Reactions of aryl halides with heteroatomic nucleophiles have become an important method for the preparation of numerous intermediates in organic synthesis. This publication describes a new simple and versatile protocol for the copper-catalyzed arylation of amides, phenols and thiols with aryl iodides in the presence of a simple triol ligand. The reaction conditions are mild and the reaction may tolerate various functional groups.
