Significance

Bullatacin is a cytotoxic annonaceous acetogenin. Pagenkopf and co-workers use Mukaiyama’s cobalt-catalyzed oxidative cyclization of 5-hydroxy-1-alkenes to prepare the bis(tetrahydrofuran) core and metal acetylide additions to aldehydes to append the remainder of the molecule.
