Enantioselective Radical Additions to Acyloxy Pyrones

Significance

The pyran moiety is present in a large number of natural products. Previous enantio­selective radical reactions typically react via an s-cis substrate, however, this paper demonstrates the reaction of s-trans α,β-unsaturated compounds. The authors show that without the use of a chiral auxililary good to high enantioselectivities can be realized.
