Significance

Galbulimima alkaloid 13 is isolated from the bark of the Galbulimima belgraveana tree. Noteworthy in this synthesis are (a) a radical cyclization to synthesize the cyclopentane ring in E and (b) an enamine addition strategy to construct the strained 1-hydroxy-bicyclo[3.2.1]octane core. This work established the absolute stereochemistry of the target.
