Distal femoral fractures
Treatment with the less invasive stabilization system (LISS)Publication History

Summary
Treatment of distal femoral fractures with the less invasive stabilization system (LISS) is associated with high union rates and relatively low complication rates. However, the majority of studies examining outcomes after LISS treatment were case series, and the inter- and intra-study fracture type and severity varied widely. The success of the procedure and the incidence of complications tended to be closely correlated to trauma severity. Additionally, all studies had only short-term follow-up and most lacked functional patient outcome data. Comparative studies with longer follow-up are needed to determine whether LISS treatment for distal femoral fractures offers a safe and effective alternative over existing treatment options.
