Abstract

Three new indole N-oxide alkaloids, fargesine (5-hydroxy-12-methyl-10,11,12,13-tetrahydro-1H-azepino[5,4,3-cd]indole N 12-oxide, 1), plectocomine 12-methyl-5-O-β-D-glucopyranoside N 12-oxide (2), and bufotenine 5-O-β-D-glucopyranoside N 12-oxide (3), were isolated from the root and stem of Evodia fargesii Dode along with five known compounds. The structures of the new alkaloids were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic analysis.
