Significance
Late-stage peptide modifications are an important tool in the formation of bioactive compounds. Especially the introduction of reactive functional groups is useful for next-step reactions such as cyclization. The authors have established a Rh-catalyzed C–H maleimidation for such purposes.

Comment
The Rh catalysis proceeded smoothly and afforded the corresponding Trp including peptide with maleimide. Furthermore, these reaction conditions were also applied for the cyclization of oligopeptide.
