Schulung und Behandlung von Migranten – Soziale Aspekte und spezielle Didaktik

Diabetesbehandlung inklusive strukturierter Beratung und Schulung sind in Deutschland in den Nationalen Leitlinien festgehalten. Diese gehen von den Bedürfnissen durchschnittlicher Patienten aus, sie sind also mittelschichtorientiert. Für Patienten mit niedrigem sozioökonomischen Status, Migranten und Flüchtlinge in ähnlicher sozialer Lage sind sie oft wenig hilfreich. Können diese Personengruppen dennoch genauso gut betreut werden? Welche Besonderheiten gilt es zu beachten? Die Betreuung und Schulung sollte möglichst strukturiert sein, aber auch auf die sehr unterschiedlichen Handicaps und Ressourcen der Patienten abgestimmt sein. Dies erfordert von den Behandlerteams ein besonderes Maß an Empathie, Improvisation sowie sozial- und kulturspezifische Kompetenzen.

Diabetes treatment including structured counseling and training in Germany is set out in national guidelines. These are based on the requirements of the average patient, they are thus oriented to the middle classes. They are often of little help for patients from the lower socio-economic levels, immigrants and refugees in similar social situations. Is it possible to care equally well for these groups of people? What special features need to be considered? The management and education should be structured whenever possible but at the same time adapted to the widely differing handicaps and resources of the individual patient. This demands a particular degree of empathy, improvisation and social as well as culture-specific competences from the therapeutic team.
