Der Morbus Parkinson bzw. das idiopathische Parkinson-Syndrom (iPS) ist neben dem M. Alzheimer eine der häufigsten neurodegenerativen Erkrankungen des höheren Lebensalters. Durch die derzeitige demografische Dynamik muss man davon ausgehen, dass sich die Prävalenz der Erkrankung in den westlichen Industrieländern bis 2030 etwa verdoppelt [1]. Diese Tatsache unterstreicht die Notwendigkeit einer möglichst frühen und vor allem korrekten Diagnose der Erkrankung, auch wenn derzeit fast ausschließlich symptomatische Therapiemodalitäten existieren.
