Summary

Omega-3 down-regulates inflammation via the metabolism of prostaglandines and leukotrienes, it modulates an overactive immune system in autoimmune diseases, protects against dangerous cardiac arrhythmias and enhances the mood via serotonergic effects. In cancer prevention and treatment it is to be used as well. Is there evidence in scientific research? What does the basic research show, could the effects be demonstrated in epidemiological studies and do intervention studies exist?
