Introduction

Cases of acute dacryoadenitis can have a range of etiology. Viral infections are one possible cause, especially when there are pre-existing conditions such as flu-like syndrome. However in most cases there is no clinical evidence of viral etiology [1], [2]. We report the case of an acute dacryoadenitis that shortly preceded the outcome of an ipsilateral herpes zoster ophthalmicus.
