Die neurobiologische Basis von Zwangsstörungen gilt mittlerweile als gut abgesichert, auch wenn noch nicht alle beteiligten Faktoren bekannt sind. Im Rahmen der Psychotherapie können neurobiologische Aspekte des Zwangs wertvoll sein, um Betroffenen die Entstehung und Aufrechterhaltung ihrer aufdringlichen Gedanken und belastenden Rituale zu vermitteln.
