Im Angesicht der explodierenden Kosten im Gesundheitswesen stellt sich die Frage,
ob Telemedizin bei chronischen Erkrankungen, wie Diabetes, eine Lösung sein könnte.
Welche Entwicklungen es in der Telemedizin derzeit gibt, und welche Voraussetzungen
für eine Implementierung in der Versorgung von Patienten mit Diabetes erfüllt sein
müssen, wird im Folgenden dargestellt.
Despite the very fast growing costs of healthcare services for persons with chronic
diseases, telemedicine can become an option in the management of chronic diseases
like diabetes mellitus. Despite this, telemedicine can gain a significant added value
in improving empowerment and self-management of patients with chronic diseases.
This article discusses what developments in telemedicine based chronic care management
currently exist. Furthermore, the article states the requirement for implementation
of telediabetological management systems and how they can provide an added value for
patients with diabetes mellitus.
