Eine EHEC-Epidemie hat 2011 in Deutschland nahezu 4000 Krankheitsfälle verursacht.
Die Mehrzahl der Patienten litt an einer schweren Gastritis, 855 entwickelten ein
hämolytisch-urämisches Syndrom, das in 50 Fällen letal verlief. In diesem Artikel
werden pathogene Escherichia coli (insbesondere EHEC), das klinische Bild, die Therapie
und Präventionsmaßnahmen vorgestellt.
Summary
In 2011, an outbreak of EHEC has caused about 4000 cases of gastroenteritis. 855 cases
of HUS were identified and 50 patients died as a consequence. In this article, microbiology,
symptoms, therapy and prevention are summarized.
