Significance

Chromanones are a class of highly bioactive natural products receiving much synthetic interest. Pyrrolidines are known to be present in an array of pharmaceuticals and natural alkaloids. The ability to arrive at these structural motifs in an asymmetric fashion from readily accessible achiral reagents is noteworthy.
