Significance

The 3-aminochroman moiety can be found in a number of pharmaceutically important compounds; however, limited progress in development of the enantioselective synthetic approaches to its construction has been achieved. This work describes the highly enantioselective Ru-mediated hydrogenation leading to 3-aminochroman derivatives with 60-97% yield and 34-96% ee.
