Probleme der sexuellen Erregung und des sexuellen Verlangens. Bemerkungen zu Begrifflichkeit, Forschungsgeschichte und klinischer Anwendung, oder: Je mehr sich ändert, desto mehr bleibt gleich[1]

Es ist erstaunlich, wie kontrovers das Thema der sexuellen Erregung und des sexuellen Verlangens diskutiert wird. Wie viel ist ausreichend? Wie viel ist zu viel? Welcher Zusammenhang besteht zwischen Erregung und Verlangen? Gibt es einen Unterschied zwischen sexueller Erregung und / oder Verlangen von Männern und Frauen? Im Folgenden werden einige Überlegungen zu Begrifflichkeit, Forschungsgeschichte und klinischer Anwendung angestellt, um die Entwicklung der Ansichten über Störungen der sexuellen Erregung und des sexuellen Verlangens nachzuzeichnen. Der Aufsatz beginnt mit einer kurzen Geschichte der Klassifikation der Störungen sexueller Erregung und sexuellen Verlangens, befasst sich dann mit der Verschränkung der beiden Konzepte und schließt mit einer Diskussion der konzeptionellen Veränderungen, die während der letzten fünfundzwanzig Jahre im Zusammenhang mit Erregung und Verlangen stattgefunden haben. 

Man muss sich dabei stets vor Augen halten, dass in der Literatur mangelndes Verlangen bei Frauen lokalisiert wird, während geringes Verlangen bei Männern, insbesondere schwulen Männern, häufig völlig außer Acht gelassen oder nur als Kuriosität oder Anomalie behandelt wird (Maurice 2007). Diese Tendenz geht wahrscheinlich auf verbreitete soziale Normen zurück, die „Sex“ als Verkehr zwischen Penis und Vagina definieren und deren Implikationen weiter unten diskutiert werden. Bedauerlicherweise unterliegt dieser Artikel durch die heterosexistische Voreingenommenheit der Literatur selbst gewissen Beschränkungen.
