Abstract

Despite the increasing number of scientific studies concerning the high prevalence of craniomandibular dysfunction (CMD) their methodological quality and comparability is not satisfying.

The aim of this cross-sectional study among adults in 2010 was to evaluate a correlation between body posture and TMD. The comparison of body posture parameters revealed significant differences between the investigation and the control group concerning horizontal deviation of the eye, mouth and PSIS lines. A body posture deviation in 3 variables supports the hypothesis of a correlation between TMD and body posture.
