Zusammenfassung

Für viele kinderlose Paare ist die künstliche Befruchtung mittels IVF der letzte Ausweg. Doch die Erfolgsraten liegen nur bei ca. 30 % und sind stark abhängig vom Alter der Frau. Zudem ist die Behandlung körperlich und seelisch belastend. Akupunktur scheint eine Erfolg versprechende, nebenwirkungsfreie und kostengünstige Methode zu sein, die Implantations- und Schwangerschaftsraten zu verbessern. Dies belegen einige Studien; der Beitrag beleuchtet die aktuelle Studienlage.

Sabine Sator-Katzenschlager studierte Medizin an der Universität Wien und ist Fachärztin für Anästhesiologie und Allgemeine Intensivmedizin. Seit 1998 Mitarbeiterin der Schmerzambulanz des AKH. Seit 2004 A. o. Univ. Professor für Anästhesiologie und Intensivmedizin in der Klinischen Abteilung für Spezielle Anästhesie und Schmerztherapie und seit 2008 Oberärztliche Leitung.
