Hiyama Coupling in Water with Fe3O4-Supported Pd Nanoparticles

Significance
Palladium/Fe3O4 nanoparticles (Pd/Fe3O4) were prepared by treatment of Fe3O4 nanoparticles with Na2PdCl4 followed by reduction with NaBH4 (eq. 1). Pd/Fe3O4 catalyzed the Hiyama cross-coupling of arylbromides 1 with aryl siloxanes 2 under aqueous conditions to give the corresponding biaryls 3 in 65-92% yield (18 examples, eq. 2).
