Significance

Dicyanomethylene-substituted ­cyclopenta[b]thiophene (BCN) and BCN-containing oligomers have been synthesized. Good solubility, a broad absorption band, and good electron-accepting ability due to the dicyanomethylene units render these oligomers as good candidates for use in devices.
