Significance

In this report, a novel palladium-catalyzed cascade reaction affording cis-1,3-disubstituted isoindolines is described. After an initial arylation of the imine starting material, the resultant sulfonamide engages the allylic acetate by an aminopalladation reaction, which after β-acetoxy elimination affords the desired heterocyclic products.
