Significance

A novel palladium-catalyzed decarboxylative cross-coupling of potassium aryltrifluoroborates with α-oxocarboxylic acids to afford aryl ketones has been disclosed. A combination of catalytic Pd(OAc)₂ with stoichiometric K₂S₂O₈ was found to be the most efficient system for the reaction.
