Significance

Herein, a new catalytic system for the enantioselective arylation of isatins with arylboronic acids is reported. A chiral cationic C 2-symmetrical N-heterocyclic carbene Pd²+ diaqua complex is used as catalyst. The mild and convenient reaction conditions give the corresponding products in high yields and generally high enantioselectivities.
