Significance

Reported is the synthesis of chiral dihydropyridine derivatives via the rhodium-catalyzed highly enantioselective asymmetric addition of both aryl- and alkenylboronic acids to N-benzylnicotinate salts. An efficient application of this methodology to the preparation of synthetically useful N-Boc piperidine acid salts was also reported.
