Significance

The deoxygenation of epoxides with gold nanoparticles supported on hydrotalcite [HT: Mg6Al2(OH)16CO3˙nH2O] (Au/HT) under hydrogen was described. Thus, the reaction of epoxides 1 with Au/HT (0.9 mol% Au; Æ = 2.7 nm) was carried out under hydrogen to give the corresponding alkenes 2 and water. Au/HT was reused without significant loss of catalytic activity (1st reuse: 2a, 97% yield, 2nd reuse: 2a, 97% yield).
