Significance

Salvileucalin B was isolated in 2008 from the plant Salvia leucantha by Takeya and co-workers and identified as a potential new medicinal lead. Its unusual norcaradiene core, containing a fully substituted cyclopropane ring, has made it a worthy synthesis target.
