Significance

A silica-supported chiral phosphine ligand L was prepared by immobilization of tripodal chiral phosphine 4, which was obtained from tripodal linker unit 1 onto mesoporous silica (TMPS-4). The asymmetric hydrogenation of (Z)-α-(acetamido)cinnamic acid proceeded in the presence of [Rh(cod)(MeCN)2]BF4 and L under H2 atmosphere at room temperature to afford N-acetylphenylalanine in 98% yield with 95% ee.
