Significance

The polyaniline-silver nitrate-p-toluenesulfonic acid (PANI-AgNO3-PTSA) salt catalyzed the Mannich reaction of cyclohexanone (1), benzaldehydes 2, and anilines 3 in water to give the corresponding β-amino ketones 4 in up to 96% yield with up to 100% anti selectivity (6 examples).
