Significance

The previously reported Cp^*Ru(PN) ligand (Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2009, 48, 1324) is applied here to the asymmetric hydrogenation of monocyclic and bicyclic imides. This is a nice example of desymmetrization to generate new alcohols and imides.
