Significance
This is one of the first successful attempts to incorporate fullerene in the backbone of a polymer. Previous incorporations have been via end-capping or as pendant groups. In this case, the authors end-cap oligomers such as to create multiblock copolymers through a simple Williamson ether synthesis.
