Selective Addition of Organolithium Reagents to BF₂-Chelates

Significance

A highly chemoselective synthesis of asymmetrically substituted 1,3-diketonato­boron difluorides is described. These compounds are obtained from the corresponding 3-oxopropanoates in a short and mild reaction sequence via the addition of various organolithium reagents and can be transformed into 1,3-diketones subsequently.
