Significance

The pyrrole synthesis reported in this work efficiently condenses enamines and alkynes under oxidative conditions. The key step is a rhodium/silver-catalyzed allylic sp³ C-H activation of the enamine followed by a cyclization with the alkyne. For most functional groups high yields of the pyrrole products are obtained.
