Significance

Expanding their work on the use of axially chiral bidentate NHC-Pd(II) complexes, this work demonstrates the 1,4-addition of arylboronic acids to 2,3-dihydro-4-pyridones. Various 2-aryl-4-piperidones were prepared in moderate to high yield and excellent enantioselectivity.
