Significance

Palladium nanoparticles were generated in situ from palladium diacetate in the presence of tetrabutylammonium hydroxide (TBAOH), and glucose as reductant, which promoted reductive homocoupling of bromo- and chloroarenes in water to give the corresponding biaryls in up to 95% yield (13 examples).
