Summary

Within the Kliniken Essen-Mitte the Breast Center under the direction of PD. Dr. Kümmel and the Department of Natural Medicine under Prof. Dr. Dobos have been cooperating since the beginning of 2010. This integrative oncological approach includes not only additional naturopathic treatments such as acupuncture, phyto- or neural-therapy but also the selective use of Ordnungstherapie and Mind-Body Medicine including therapeutic counseling and training in naturopathic self-help strategies by means of hydrotherapy, wraps, pads etc as well as healthy eating, exercise, stress management and relaxation. Depending on the patients‘ needs psycho-oncological support is given as well. In accordance with a salutogenic treatment approach all these measures aim to enable and promote self-regulatory capacities and thus self-healing. This is done primarily through the empowerment and support of patients to anchor long-acting healthy lifestyle choices in their daily lives.
