I wish to thank the authors for taking time away from busy schedules to write their articles and Dr. Jamal M. Bullocks for serving as guest editor of this issue of Seminars in Plastic Surgery on the topic of “Cosmetic Surgery in the Ethnic Population: Special Considerations and Procedures.”

Dr. Bullocks graduated with honors from Georgetown University and earned his medical degree from the Georgetown University School of Medicine. He also obtained extensive research experience in breast oncology and head and neck oncology while a fellow at the Lombardi Cancer Center at Georgetown University.

After completing an internship in general surgery and a residency in plastic surgery at Baylor College of Medicine, Dr. Bullocks chose to remain at Baylor College of Medicine, where he is an assistant professor in the Plastic Surgery Division of the Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery. He is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and specializes in aesthetic facial rejuvenation, aesthetic breast and body contouring, reconstructive breast surgery, and reconstructive facial procedures. Dr. Bullocks also has a special interest in plastic surgery for ethnic groups, working with patients with different skin textures, pigmentation, and facial features to improve their appearance while retaining their unique characteristics.

He is a frequent presenter on cosmetic and reconstructive techniques and is a highly regarded educator, recognized frequently for his outstanding teaching skills. This is noted as he is the director of the Residents' Aesthetic Clinic at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Bullocks has authored several peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and has recently published a new book titled Plastic Surgery Emergencies: Principles and Techniques.
