Significance
SiO2-supported MacMillan catalyst (Mac-SILC) was prepared on an amorphous silica gel upon exposure to a dichloromethane solution of MacMillan imidazolidinone and [bmim]PF6. Enantioselective Diels-Alder reaction of cyclopentadiene (1a) and cinnamaldehyde (2a) was carried out with Mac-SILC to give 3a in 96% yield [endo/exo = 1:1.2, 93% ee (endo), 89% ee (exo)].
