Significance

The straightforward synthesis of magnetic nanoparticle-supported glutathione 1 and its use as ”organocatalyst" is reported. The immobilized and reusable catalyst 1 proved to be active in a number of different reactions. The Paal-Knorr pyrrole synthesis, aza-Michael reaction, and pyrazole synthesis were carried out in water as reaction medium under microwave irradiation, providing the reaction products in high yields after short reaction times.
