Significance

Asymmetric hydrovinylation holds a special place in catalysis as it was an early example of asymmetric C-C bond formation. Chiral phosphoramidite ligands, such as L1 and L2, have been successfully employed in nickel-catalyzed hydrovinylations, but the reactions usually required low temperature (typically -78 ˚C) in order to obtain good chemo- and enantioselectivities. The authors reported a highly efficient and selective hydrovinylation protocol at room temperature using ligands of the type L3-5.
