Significance

The authors report a simple procedure for the palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling of secondary benzylic halides with aryl and alkenyl Grignard reagents, allowing to prepare polysubstituted diarylmethanes and allyl benzenes. This reaction proceeds with complete inversion of the configuration and tolerates useful functional groups.
