Significance

A simple bifunctional initiatior was prepared to facilitate the efficient synthesis of poly(3-hexylthiophene)-block-polystyrene. The use of a bifunctional initiator for the synthesis of block copolymers is a novel technique that circumvents the problems associated with post-polymerization modification, which is usually used to incorporate the initiator for the second block.
