Significance

Phoslactomycin B is a Streptomyces metabolite whose antitumor activity is a consequence of its selective and potent inhibition of protein serine/threonine phosphatase. A salient feature of the synthesis is an asymmetric Baylis-Hillman reaction mediated by β-isocupreidine (C).
