[3+2] Cycloaddition of Azomethine Imines and Alkynes with Copper(I) Zeolites

Significance

The catalytic utility of copper(I)-modified USY zeolite (CuI-USY) for the cycloaddition of azomethine imines was described. Thus, [3+2] cycloaddition of azomethine imines 1 and terminal alkynes 2 was carried out with 5 mol% CuI-USY in toluene to give the corresponding N,N-bicyclic pyrazolidinone derivatives 3 in 0-90% isolated yield (16 examples).
