Summary
In cerebral angioscintigraphy a suspension of I131-tagged macroaggregated albumin particles, 5–10 μ in size, is injected into the carotid artery. The injection immediately follows the conclusion of a routine angiography so that no further stress accrues for the patients.
Fifty-six patients with space-occupying lesions of the cerebrum were investigated. In so doing gliomas disclose a reduced hold-up in the region of the tumour, while meningiomas show an increased arrest of the particles. Metastases are not uniform in their behaviour with regard to fixation of the particles.
On the basis of the results so far achieved the method appears to be a valuable and quickly interpreted supplementary investigation for the pre-operative differential diagnosis of brain tumours.
Zusammenfassung
Bei der zerebralen Angioszintigraphie wird eine Suspension von J131-markierten makroaggregierten Albuminpartikeln, 5–50 μ groß, in die A. carotis injiziert. Die Injektion erfolgt unmittelbar im Anschluß an die Röntgen-Angiographie, so daß dem Patienten keine zusätzliche Belastung erwächst.
56 Patienten mit raumfordernden Prozessen des Großhirns wurden untersucht. Dabei ließen Gliome eine verminderte Partikelfixation im Tumorbereich erkennen, indes Meningeome eine gesteigerte Partikelarretierung zeigten. Metastasen verhielten sich im Hinblick auf die Partikelfixation uneinheitlich.
Auf Grund der bisherigen Ergebnisse stellt die Methode eine wertvolle und rasch auswertbare Zusatzuntersuchung zur präoperativen Artdiagnostik der Hirntumoren dar.

Progrès du diagnostic différentiel des tumeurs cérébrales à l'aide de l'angioscintigraphie
Pour l'angioscintigraphie on injecte dans l'artère carotide une suspension d'un macroagrégat de particules d'albumine, d'une taille de 5 à 50 μ marquées à l'I 131. L'injection est couplée avec l'angiographie de façon à éviter au malade une dose supplémentaire de rayons X. 56 malades porteurs de processus occupants du cerveau ont été examinés. On constate une fixation moindre des particules dans le tissu gliomateux alors que les méningiomes en retenaient davantage. La fixation dans les métastases s'est montrée variable. Au regard de ces premiers résultats cette méthode représente un moyen préopératoire complémentaire valable pour le diagnostic du type de la tumeur.
