Significance

Ongoing interest in multicomponent reactions (MCRs) has been fueled by their ability to generate complex products from simple precursors through a modular approach. Complementing the group’s previous work (J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2008, 130, 7782), the authors report a four-component MCR accessing β-amino-α-hydroxy-esters 5, in variable yield and good enantioselectivity.
