Aktuelle Aspekte in der akutgerontopsychiatrischen Behandlung

Zusammenfassung

Mit einer immer älter werdenden Bevölkerung wird das Fachgebiet der Gerontopsychiatrie und -psychotherapie u. a. wegen der damit zunehmenden Multimorbidität und Polypharmazie stärker an Bedeutung gewinnen. Neben den pharmakologischen Besonderheiten werden immer wieder auftretende Notfall- und Akutsituationen bei geriatrischen Patienten beschrieben, wie delirante Zustände, die Behandlung mit Lithium und deren Besonderheiten im Alter sowie Suizidalität im Alter.

Abstract

As the population continues to age, the field of geriatric psychiatry and psychotherapy will become more important in the future, given the associated increase in multimorbidity and polypharmacy. As part of the aging process, there is a growing need to consider changing metabolism and the resulting need to adapt pharmacotherapy. In addition to the pharmacological peculiarities that increase with age, other recurring emergency and acute situations in old age are described, such as delirious states, lithium treatment and its peculiarities in old age, and suicidality in old age.
